Racomitrium canescens, commonly known as "Star Moss," is a charming moss species with star-shaped leaves that are both unique and visually appealing. This moss is highly sensitive to moisture—when dry, it contracts into a stick-like form, and with a light mist of water, it quickly unfolds back to its original shape. It is a popular moss species for Micro Landscape Terrariums and pairs beautifully with succulents to create a natural, vibrant display.
Features:
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 18°C-28°C and is not heat-tolerant.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity (75%-90%), but it’s essential to avoid water accumulation at the base, as excessive moisture can cause rotting. It is relatively drought-tolerant.
- Light: Prefers indirect light or gentle direct sunlight (morning or evening sunlight is ideal).
- Ventilation: Requires good ventilation to ensure airflow; otherwise, it may develop mold and die due to stagnant air.
This moss not only adds beauty and a natural touch to Micro Landscape Terrariums but also makes the perfect companion for succulent plants. Its unique appearance and growth characteristics make it an excellent choice for hobbyists and DIY landscape creators.
Purchase Size: 15×8 cm (5.91×3.15‘’).
