Stereochilus dalatensis

Stereochilus dalatensis is a charming miniature monopodial orchid native to Vietnam, Yunnan, and Thailand, typically growing as an epiphyte in mountainous forests at elevations of approximately 800–1,400 m (2,600–4,600 ft).

Care Tips:

• Provide bright filtered light to moderately bright light, avoiding harsh midday sun.
• Maintain cool to warm temperatures, with good day-to-night temperature variation.
• Keep humidity around 60–80% with excellent air circulation.
• Water regularly during active growth, but allow the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings; the fine roots dislike both prolonged dryness and constant saturation.
• Grow in a small pot with fine bark or sphagnum, or mount on cork/tree fern for excellent drainage and root ventilation.
• Fertilize lightly with a balanced orchid fertilizer at ¼–½ strength during active growth.
• Repot or remount toward the end of winter or when new roots begin developing, minimizing disturbance to the delicate root system.
